Retreat:A period of group withdrawal for prayer, meditation, study or instruction under a director

I haven't had time to post about the retreat this past weekend. It was a great time of prayer, study, reflection, talking, sharing, laughing, and of course EATING!!!! Our speaker was so easy to listen to. It was like having a good girl gab session. She hit on some points of being a Biblical woman that I thought I would share:

  1. Even though our husbands may complain about us or neglect us and our feelings, God said it was not good for man to be alone so he created woman!! So the next time you don't feel that you are being appreciated, know that God appreciates you because He created you specifically for your man!!

  2. By our sin nature we want to withdraw when times are bad: Adam and Eve hid from God in the garden but God called them out. Not only did he call them out, he gave them the opportunity to confess their sin. Yet just like us they were blame shifters. Yet because of the Gospel and what Christ has done for us we can move towards others.

  3. People don't make our behavior they only REVEAL our behavior. Yeah, think about that one for a while.

  4. We as women are "life-givers" but we also can be "life-takers" by our words and actions towards others. Our words belong to God!

  5. Relationships were created prior to the fall in perfection. Yet since the fall we are autocratic or apathetic and engage in power struggles.

  6. Do not RESOLVE to do better; REPENT and ask God through his grace to make me better.

  7. And this one really hit home with me: We cannot punish our non-Christian friends b/c they don't believe in Christ. We need to love them all the more b/c we may be the most of Christ they ever know or see.

There were other points she brought up but those are the ones that I have thought the most about.

I also would like to tell my gals what I great time I had with all of them!! Staying up late, eating, soaking up sun time, praying with crying with and just being me with them, I loved it all!! Can't wait until next year's retreat!

DC Trip

Number 1 son is in DC still. He returns home tomorrow! My CM consultant here is on the trip also and she sent me a picture of said Number 1 son at Baltimore Orioles Stadium. There is something exciting about being somewhere like that. He looks like he is having a blast and doesn't even look as if he is sleep deprived.

A little bird also told me that Number 1 has bought me a happy from DC!!! I just LOVE his thoughtfulness!!! And can't wait to hear all about his trip!

Getting all my ducks in a row!!

Ok this weekend starts the craziness:

  1. I have our churches ladies retreat down at the beach!!

  2. Number 1 son is going on his big DC trip with his class

  3. Number 2 son and Dad are bachen' it

  4. McSweetie has a flight out of PNS for Sunday or Monday for a final inspection for one of his projects...

So, needless to say it is a little crazy around here!! I also have to work today but get to leave early so I can get down to the Beach and help set up. I am printing my fun fact sheets for the Beach Retreat, I have made my breakfast treat for my condo, made a snack to share (that was easy thanks to Tastefully Simple Fiesta Dip mix), taken the boys to school, gotten Simon's cash for his trip, and all before 9am. Still need to get Simon's camera & gum, get clean, pack my suitcase, load up the daisys for the table decorations and put them together once I get there.

Whew, I need a retreat. We have free time most of Saturday so I will probably work on JFP's 40th b'day present after I have soaked up some serious sun time!! See the longer it takes me to make it, the more love that is going in it!! By the way, JFP, what time is it??!!

Hope you all have a restful weekend and fun at ballparks, parties, or just hangin' with your families!

I know that this IS a Good Idea

At Circle group the other day, a friend of mine said she was struggling with a decision about her children. She went to a friend who is very strong in her faith and asked her how she can listen to what God is telling her. So the friend said to just pick a book of the Bible or just open and read and write down the verses that speak to her. Write them down over a weeks time and after that weeks time, go back and read all the verses she had written down. You will see a common thread within the verses, That is God talking to you.

So today for my quiet time I am applying this idea. I am anxiously awaiting what God has to say to me!!

Is this a good idea??!

I was talking to a friend of mine from church yesterday and I mentioned that I had stumbled across her blog. She asked if I had one and I said no and she just insisted that I get one. I have had the opportunity to read many blogs myself, and after much debate I am going to try my hand at this. My hope is that you will enjoy catching up with our happenings if you live far away and if you live close, more than likely you have had a part in my daily life here. I will try not to name specific names. The writer in me will give you pseudonyms or just use initials, did you even know that there is a budding writer in me just dying to get out??!! I have so many ideas for books and that only comes from my life experiences. Not that my life is all that exciting but there are those around me that could make me RICH!!!!!

So, all that said... EC here is my blog and I hope that you will enjoy reading it!!! And for those others who or whom ( I don't know which I am supposed to use, maybe my journalism friend can help me out here) I have invited to read... If you think I have jumped off the deep end just say so!!!
