I haven't had time to post about the retreat this past weekend. It was a great time of prayer, study, reflection, talking, sharing, laughing, and of course EATING!!!! Our speaker was so easy to listen to. It was like having a good girl gab session. She hit on some points of being a Biblical woman that I thought I would share:
- Even though our husbands may complain about us or neglect us and our feelings, God said it was not good for man to be alone so he created woman!! So the next time you don't feel that you are being appreciated, know that God appreciates you because He created you specifically for your man!!
- By our sin nature we want to withdraw when times are bad: Adam and Eve hid from God in the garden but God called them out. Not only did he call them out, he gave them the opportunity to confess their sin. Yet just like us they were blame shifters. Yet because of the Gospel and what Christ has done for us we can move towards others.
- People don't make our behavior they only REVEAL our behavior. Yeah, think about that one for a while.
- We as women are "life-givers" but we also can be "life-takers" by our words and actions towards others. Our words belong to God!
- Relationships were created prior to the fall in perfection. Yet since the fall we are autocratic or apathetic and engage in power struggles.
- Do not RESOLVE to do better; REPENT and ask God through his grace to make me better.
- And this one really hit home with me: We cannot punish our non-Christian friends b/c they don't believe in Christ. We need to love them all the more b/c we may be the most of Christ they ever know or see.
There were other points she brought up but those are the ones that I have thought the most about.
I also would like to tell my gals what I great time I had with all of them!! Staying up late, eating, soaking up sun time, praying with crying with and just being me with them, I loved it all!! Can't wait until next year's retreat!
