Little Town on the Plains

Some people think this is the happiest place on earth. I happen to think that place is west of here. But this post is not football related (although there is a HUGE game this weekend); it is swim related. State High School Swim/Dive Meet!!!!

We are fortunate that we have a diver and that allows us to come up a day early. And I am happy to report that she won first place this afternoon!!

The swimming portion begins this evening at 5:00. Boys have great potential to be in the top 16! That is exciting and the even more exciting part is that the team as a whole should place top 3??!!

Another great thing about being here is old friends! I have the joy of being able to visit with two of my sorority sisters while here! I just returned from lunch with my Big Sis and hopefully my other sister will meet up with me at the meet! She is a busy chick as she has a child with autism and is quite the advocate in her area and she had the privilege of speaking to a group today! God picked a great spokeswoman when he brought her down this road!

Another love I have is finding the great "girlie" places to eat! And my friend picked a WINNER!! If you are in this area and need to have a chicken salad fix then......
The Chicken Salad Chick is for you!! Three locations, 15 different chicken salads to choose from, adorable atmosphere... Run!!! Go there!!! Now!!!

Now I am off to wake up number 2 son. Here's to fast swims!!

Happy Thanksgiving x2

So we spent a little time on the road...

Might need a bigger car next time with 3 broad shouldered swimmers crammed in the back!!

We had our Thanksgiving Dinner "burger king" style... "Have it your way, have it your way at (Cracker Barrel). We ran the gamut of pancakes, traditional turkey and dressing to hamburger steak and sirloin!!

Of course it wouldn't be right to not shop on Black Friday so mom and I hit some local shops!

Then it was dinner with our favorite royal family then we went back to their house to chill and chat and hang with the dogs

And then there was a big game this weekend ( well supposed to be big game). I enjoyed spending it with my old college roomie...

And you can't have a football gathering without yummy food..

And as if we needed to eat again we met some friends at one of our most favorite restaurants

Then it was time to pack it up so we could head home for one last family gathering. And what fun it was to have this lil fella in the midst..

Now it's home sweet home with our little family

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Is your house decorated for Christmas!??

Wish mine was!

Sunday Night = Date Night

Guilt free date night. The boys have SNF {Sunday Night Fellowship} so we have decided that we need to have a date night on Sundays. Last time we used our gift card to Applebees. Tonight we are going to the movies... Skyfall, Argo, or Flight. We have had the crud here, all but Number 1 son. I spent all day yesterday in my pjs. Watched FOOTBALL ALL AFTERNOON!! Did not turn out the way I had thought it would {seems to be the theme for the week} but it was a good game to watch. Flipped between the Au/Ga game and the LSU/Miss St game. Finally gave up and gave in for an early night to bed. Feeling much better today. Slept in and chilled this am while all the guys made it to church. I put on my work clothes and started working on STATEment orders...here is a little peek...

You can place an order here if you are interested in ordering your own STATEment. Just let me know!

Sooooo,

That really didn't go the way I thought it would. Hmmm?? Am I disappointed? YEP! Angry?? A little. Frustrated?? Of course! BUT.... I have a God who is sitting on HIS throne REINING over us. HIS plan is still going strong. Do I understand it? Nope. Like it?? Honestly, not really. Trust it? 100% yes!!! Who else am I going to put my trust in?? Just sayin' The funniest post on FB last night was from a friend who is an AUBURN fan... "At least now half of the country knows what it feels like to be an Auburn fan!" Thanks for the much needed laugh!!

Thankful Day 6....

The privilege to VOTE! So McSweetie thought it would be a fun idea to have an Open Door Policy this Election Day! So to honor his request, I am getting REDe for this evening.

On the menu we have...

RED BEANS AND RICE

RED VELVET CUPCAKES

CHERRY COBBLER (because if course it is red)

LIL SMOKIES in the crockpot ( duh, because they are red)

And HUMMUS a happy tune with PITA CHIPS!!

A little over the top? Maybe. But we are a household REDe for change. You had your 4 years. You made no improvements for me. The country has gone down the tubes and we cannot stand for another 4 years of the same decline. Now I am FULLY aware that we have someone who is in ULTIMATE control of our country and it is not OBAMA or even ROMNEY for that matter. My God will have HIS will accomplished today. My job is to vote and PRAY!! And RESPECT the outcome of the election knowing that my God is ever present even in the midst of all the political unravel of the past 4 years or even if we get 4 more if the same. So I take COMPLETE COMFORT in HIM! Not OBAMA and not ROMNEY!

Stepping off the soap box now. Gotta finish getting REDe!!

Thankful #2...

We live in a wonderful community. Of course it is not without problems, one main problem is the managing of monies within our school system. We have suffered many cuts within the schools and without the passing of the penny tax we will face even more cuts. Now this is not a political post by any means and I am not saying whether I am for or against raising taxes to fund our schools...And what does this have to do with being Thankful you may be asking... Well, I am thankful that we have members of our community who are dedicated to providing additional creative opportunities for our kids...

A main opportunity is through theatre... Currently running is Seussical, Jr. And it is wonderful!!! Both boys have been involved in the past... Into the Woods, Willie Wonka, Mulan, and Still Life with Iris. It taught them discipline. Time management. How to work with others. Made them step out of their comfort zone. Confidence. And even got them invited to Kentucky to perform. Without people dedicated to the arts this would not have happened. The schools are trying their best to just get in the basics. So today I am thankful for our local children's community theater and the wonderful job they do!! They ROCK!!!
