Audrey Hepburn...

"Pick the day. Enjoy it - to the hilt. The day as it comes. People as they come... The past, I think, has helped me appreciate the present - and I don't want to spoil any of it by fretting about the future.”

WOW! I love this! I always have said if I could have been anyone at any time... it would be Audrey Hepburn. So REGAL, ELEGANT... I loved her movies.... “My look is attainable. Women can look like Audrey Hepburn by flipping out their hair, buying the large sunglasses, and the little sleeveless dresses.” AH {I feel some purchases in my future!!}

So tonight as I was sitting in the kitchen and listening to public television I started quote searching... something that summed up my feelings right at this moment. And the quote above is what I came up with. I love it! Life seems to be a struggle lately more than a joy. Just when you think things can't get any worse, they can. I have for a while been "hohum" about my lot in life and today I had an epiphany... I have a gift.... A GOD given gift. Why am I putting it down... why am I sad? Yes, my life has changed from what it once was... but doesn't life do that? Don't we grow... first we start as a little seed nurished by those who love us{parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends...} we grow a trunk. We grow branches which need pruning to cause new growth for the tree, leaves... which change color with the seasons... sometimes we are tiny like the new buds... then we grow... sometimes we are colorful and other times we are dry and dead. But all the while the tree is still growing... reaching towards the heavens while anchored solidly below. We provide shelter for those who are weary... we are flexible bending with the breeze...

Just sitting here in these few quiet moments with my own thoughts and a little Mary Chapin Carpenter in the background and a love for Audrey Hepburn I now sit with a smile on my face... no fretting here... this day is over and I did not enjoy it to the hilt but the good thing is "tomorrow is another day" Just Another Day on the Bay....
