What'll ya Have...

... one fun weekend with just me and McSweetie in "HOTlanta!!" McSweetie had to go for a course for work so I tagged along. {Thanks to ALL my friends & family who made that possible!}
We ate at some fabulous restaurants. On our way there we ate at Mimi's Cafe. Have y'all ever eaten there? Well, let me just say that any place that brings hot muffins to your table while you wait on your meal is A-OKAY in my book!! I had a fabulous Balsamic Chicken Salad with strawberries and all sorts of YUMMY stuff and McSweetie had a chicken pot pie that was to DIE for!!

My sweet friend Julianna let us borrow their garmin for the trip and it was WONDERFUL!! It go us straight to our hotel at 11:26pm. Whew what a day!! Glad I got to sleep in the next morning! WRONG!! Forgot to put the do not disturb sign out and at 8:15 Room Service was opening the door... To which I screamed "Don't need it!!" And then went back to sleep. Finally got up, ate the rest of my muffin from the night before and got clean and headed out on my own adventure. That would be the Ballard's Backroom!! Wow! If I had had a ton of money I could have done some damage! But alas, that trip I bagged NADA! Headed back out and hit the TJMaxx. What is wrong with our TJMAXX!! We don't carry Seven jeans or Vera Wang or any great designers for that matter. Yet again could have dropped a chunk of change but walked away again with NADA!! Now my trip to Payless... cha-ching! Two really cute pairs of earrings for $12. Not bad! A little lunch then I was on the road back to my hotel. Yes... I traveled the Atlanta Highways by myself... remember I was armed with the Garmin!! A true jewel!!

Once back at the room I finished off McSweetie's cookie he had gotten during our check-in the night before!! Read my book and talked with my friend Lisa who is an Atlanta native about where we should go for dinner. Into Buckhead we went and ate at the Lobster Bar. WOW, by far the BEST steak I had had in a LOOONG time. Much better than my steak from Ruth's Chris.. I'm just sayin'. Afterwards we drove around then ended up at Lenox Mall. Much to McSweetie's relief the LV store was closed! How does he always manage to squeak by on that? Anyhow... after a little walking around we headed back to the hotel {oh and to get something sweet, Wendy's frosty. Thought about going to Cold Stone but the weather was looking bad so we just went back to our room} And at the room we were introduced to The Tudors. Does anyone watch it? Well, I have heard it's pretty good and it was. Hooked after only 1 show. Now I need to rent, borrow, buy the first season to watch and catch up!

After a leisurely morning, we checked out and headed to THE VARSITY. We happily ate the Number 2 with onion rings, a chicken salad sandwich with fries, and the FROSTED ORANGE!! HEAVEN!! Can't wait to go back and take the boys! They would love it!! Then we went into Roswell to THE OTHER Ballard's Backroom and that is where I spent my money!! I found this lovely for 39.99 and this for 59.97!!! I was THRILLED!! McSweetie sweetly loaded it all and off we were for HOME!!

The boys are with their grandparents for the night and Annie is still at Doggie Camp so we have a night with no kiddos/doggie!! And McSweetie has disappeared with my neighbor! Hmmm... what is wrong with this ending??!!

Well, the girl has got to unpack!! Hope y'all have had a great weekend!!

4 friends have left a message for us:

It sounds like you had a lot of fun!! I only live 5 hours from Atlanta and still haven't made it for a weekend trip yet. When we do get to go, we will know what restaurants to check out!! :) Yes, the Tudors is the bomb!! My husband and I watch it religiously. Go ahead and buy the first season, and the second. This season is already off to an incredible start and I can't wait for more. Henry the 8th was a perfect historical character for a show... nasty and corrupt and utterly human. Seriously, I doubt many of us would have been that much better if we had all the power handed to us. Although, I like to think I would have been more like his first wife Catherine... glad you made it back safely!! :)

Okay I read this with great interest. My Florida friend is always raving about Ballards back room and I tell ya I am tempted to make the drive just to shop there. Yep all the way from NC! I have been known to do this sort of thing. Yes I admit it I drove to SC for the PB outlet one day! Okay if you get net flix you can get The Tudors by rental from them. ALSO if you love this series I highly recommend you read Philippa Gregory (The Other Bolyn Girl, The Queens Fool Etc.) her historical fiction on this time period is wonderful. Reading this reminded me of how badly Mr Whimsy and I need a weekend away!
