Why does time move so FAST??!!
Almost half a year is gone!! We are half way through the year of grieving the loss of McSweetie's dad and ALL the firsts that go along with that. That seems a lifetime ago!! A difficult road for my MIL... a difficult time for McSweetie not that anyone would really know that. He is quite practical and matter of fact when it comes to dealing with loss. I'll never forget the death of a sweet child in our church. She had been a Mommy's Helper after I had number 2 son. She would come over with her goodie bag and just played with Number 1 so I could focus on the baby. So sweet!!
I came home from teaching swimming lessons that Saturday morning in May and McSweetie just blurted out that she had been killed in a car accident. WIND KNOCKED out of ME!! Matter of fact... no sugar coating... just she was DEAD!!! She was a child... GONE like that!
Forward now and he is still matter of fact... Went by his dad's grave the other day because i had not seen the headstone... I think that was harder for him than I thought it would be. Now he has been by there several times... alone. He never made it sound like a big deal. He still says it is strange not to be able to call him...to see him. Thinking of him in the ground... it is kind of weird. I still have both of my parents. I have lost my grandmother but she was cremated... not a grave to to go... Where is she?? Sitting on my grandfather's desk in the box he picked her up in... {YES my family has some quirkiness too!!}
Of course there is other loss that has gone with his dad's passing... but that can be another post another day.. or not!
I guess I started down this rabbit trail because time moves so quickly!! We should treasure each moment of EVERY DAY!! EVEN when that day is CRAPPY!!! {and no this is not a crappy day}
BUT...this is the WEEKEND!! Time with family... friends... to be lazy or to get honey do lists done! Whatever it may be.. do it with the knowledge that we are not guaranteed tomorrow!! Enjoy today... make lemonade out of lemons....And have fun spitting out the seeds!!
